Nurturing Environmental Stewardship at Saint Joseph Kangemi

By Eugene Nyakundi

In the month of June 2025, Saint Joseph Development Programmes Kangemi embarked on a series of transformational and community-driven activities aligned with our core mission to empower the vulnerable. These activities highlighted our dedication to holistic development through environmental action, leadership engagement, and international collaboration.

5th June 2025 – World Environment Day

To mark World Environment Day 2025, students from Saint Joseph Technical Secondary School actively participated in a vibrant environmental exercise under the global theme.

“Our Land. Our Future. We Are #GenerationRestoration.” The event, coordinated by the Environmental Students’ Club, involved meaningful activities such as:

– Tree planting within and around the school compound.
– Cleaning of local footpaths and community spaces.
– Slogan and motto chants to raise awareness on ecological responsibility.

This exercise not only helped beautify the environment but also instilled a sense of ownership and responsibility among our youth for a cleaner, greener future.

We were privileged to welcome Father Kizito Kiyimba, SJ, the Provincial of the Eastern Africa Jesuit Province, to our Programmes. Father Kizito held an extensive engagement with all departments, where he encouraged continued service and innovation in supporting community development.
