Radio Kwizera Switches On Biharamulo Town

By Vincent Opiyo, SJ

After years of pitching, Biharamulo Town residents can now listen to their favourite radio station, Radio Kwizera FM effect from October 15, 2025. This is after the RK technical team managed to erect a 15-meter mast as a gap filler station at St. Francis of Assisi, Biharamulo Catholic Parish compound.

Many thanks to the parish priest, Fr. Baraka Rusasa who generously welcomed the RK proposal offering, in return, a space for our equipment. He further granted green light to install our antenna at the Parish tower once the construction of the new Church is completed. The Parish tower is expected to hit 27 meters which will boost further RK’s reach. And for close to 27,000 residents, they had been fatigued having no choice but to listen to a local radio station based in the neighbouring district of Karagwe.

The boosting of RK frequency is a huge reprieve and a better avenue to raise their voices on socioeconomic and political views: “We had nowhere to address our problems and adverts but today I am relieved because Radio Kwizera is back on air in this town and its vicinity,” said Mr. Hassan Sadick, the Biharamulo Market chairman.

“I had dumped my radio under the bed. I can’t wait to retrieve it so that I can listen to a variety of news from the lake zone,” said one of the listeners.

A survey done after the mast installation, the radio covers as far as 26 kilometers away from town. With this step, RK has now ceased 80% of Biharamulo district since the villages were already accessing the leading community radio station in the lake zone according to the 2025 Ipsos Synovate annual review.

As we speak, we have already started getting clients from B’MULO town who are placing their Ads on RK.
