Expansion of St. Ignatius Pre & Primary School
By Kavishe Waweru, SJ
Academic Excellence and Growing Demand
St. Ignatius Pre and Primary School continue to shine both in academic performance and community impact. This year, the Class 7 cohort achieved an impressive 268 points in the NECTAR examinations, the highest score ever attained by the school. We extend heartfelt congratulations to the dedicated academic team for their exceptional commitment to teaching and student formation. Special appreciation also goes to the school administration under the leadership of Fr. Sammy Wafula, SJ, whose guidance has strengthened both academic and pastoral life within the school.
The school has also experienced a significant increase in enrolment requests for the pre school section. In response to this growing demand, the institution has embarked on an expansion program while continuing with the ongoing renovation project of installing tiles in all classrooms an effort aimed at enhancing the overall learning environment.
School Life and Celebrations
November marked a joyful milestone as the school celebrated the Pre-school Graduation Ceremony, where pupils transitioned to Grade One with pride and excitement. The event was filled with colour, gratitude, and the infectious enthusiasm of young learners eager to begin their primary education journey.
The school choir animated the Mass and celebration with remarkable beauty, their golden voices adding grace to the occasion. Highlights of this memorable event can be viewed across our social media platforms @ignatiuspreprimary.
Construction and Development Progress
To address overcrowding and ensure a conducive learning space, the school has officially begun the construction of four new classrooms. The project aims to decongest existing classes that have reached full capacity and accommodate the growing number of learners. Currently, the construction is in the foundation stage, with the strip foundation completed and backfilling underway. The next stage will be the casting of the foundation slab.
The project is progressing well and is expected to be completed by mid-December, allowing the new classrooms to be ready for use at the start of the January 2026 academic year.
The province celebrates this important milestone and remains committed to supporting quality Jesuit education that nurtures excellence, dignity, and holistic formation.
