Canonical Visit of Fr. Provincial at Arrupe Jesuit University Community
By Wisdom Ukelo, SJ
Fr. Provincial, Kizito Kiyimba, SJ, arrived at Arrupe Jesuit University Community on Wednesday, 18th February 2026. During his visit, he attended the AJU Board of Trustees Meeting and later met the AOR companions at AJUC for the Manifestation of Conscience. His presence among us was both encouraging and deeply appreciated.
On the last day of his visit, 3rd March 2026, he gave the companions a memorial in which he expressed his gratitude for the quality of the companions and their active engagement in both AJUC and AJU activities. In his sharing, he encouraged the companions to continue striving for excellence and depth in community, spiritual, and intellectual life.
The Province Coordinator of AORians at AJUC, Sch. Chavala Adriano, SJ, also expressed heartfelt appreciation to Fr. Provincial for his presence and for the time he dedicated to listening to each companion personally. He further thanked him for the gift of Fr. Tobias Dindi, SJ, whose accompaniment and support as an AOR formator at AJUC has been a great blessing to the companions.
Following the memorial, the companions proceeded to the Eucharistic celebration, which was presided over by Fr. Provincial and concelebrated by Fr. Dindi. The Mass was offered in gratitude for being the largest AOR community outside the Province, with special prayers for peace in the Province, especially in North Ethiopia and parts of Sudan and South Sudan.
In his homily, Fr. Provincial reflected on two philosophical expressions: “intuitive” and “trivially true.” He emphasized that many moral truths, such as obeying the commandments and choosing to do good, are simple and self-evident. Yet, we often complicate life by failing to live according to these truths. He encouraged the companions to practice what is “intuitive and trivially true.” Though living virtuously requires creativity and perseverance, and can sometimes be demanding, it ultimately leads to a more meaningful and ordered life.
After the Mass, the companions gathered at the AJU Student Lounge, where they celebrated the AORians who had marked their birthdays in January and February 2026. The celebration included the cutting of the cake and the presentation of birthday cards signed by the companions. The joyful moment was followed by dinner and socials, further strengthening the bonds of fraternity.
As a sign of appreciation and gratitude, the Province Coordinator, on behalf of the AORians at AJUC, presented Fr. Provincial with an AJU T-shirt as a symbol of their love, gratitude, and appreciation for his visit and fatherly care.
May God continue to journey with us as we labour faithfully in His vineyard.
