AORians Gathering at Arrupe Jesuit University Community

By Wisdom Ukelo, SJ

Greetings from the Arrupe Jesuit University Community, Harare, Zimbabwe.
We are doing well as Harare continues to receive rains, and the environment is beautifully green.

On Friday, 23 January 2026, the AORians at Arrupe Jesuit University held their first Province gathering of the semester. The programme began in the evening with the celebration of the Holy Mass, presided over by Fr. Tobias Dindi, SJ.

In his homily, Fr. Dindi invited the AORians to reflect deeply on reconciliation, reconciliation with oneself, with others, and with the world. He reminded the companions that “we are invited to reconcile ourselves to God and to reconcile the world to God.” He emphasized that our vocation is fundamentally a journey of reconciliation, calling us to forgive those who wrong us and to live this mission concretely within our daily context.

After the Mass, the AORians proceeded to their gathering, which took place in a conducive and fraternal atmosphere that encouraged listening, sharing, and social interaction. During the gathering, Chavala Adriana, SJ, the AOR Province Coordinator for the AORians at AJU, gave the opening remarks, reminding and updating the companions on a few important points from the Delegate of Formation and the Province Socius.

The gathering also included deliberations on the Double Jubilee, namely the Golden Jubilee of TUSKER and the Ruby Jubilee of the AOR Province. Wisdom Ukelo, SJ, Secretary of the AORians at AJU, led the discussion and read the Double Jubilee email from the Province Socius to the companions. Following this, the companions proposed various ways forward and possible activities through which the AORians could meaningfully respond to the Double Jubilee celebrations.

Fr. Dindi also addressed the gathering, encouraging the AORians to take their philosophy studies seriously and to remain exemplary in their conduct, noting that AORians form the largest group within the Arrupe Jesuit University community. He further assured the companions of his availability and support whenever they might need assistance.

Overall, the gathering was fruitful and well organized.  The companions were deeply consoled by the joy of being together on such a shared platform.
