This vital initiative, supported by the Irish Jesuits International in partnership with The Jesuit Development Office, aimed to provide essential mental and emotional support to the students residing in the challenging environment of the Kangemi slums.

Highlights

Empowering Minds: The training focused on empowering students with effective coping mechanisms, stress management techniques, and interpersonal skills crucial for their emotional well-being.

Caring for Communities: Beyond individual support, the training emphasized the importance of community care, encouraging students to be empathetic, understanding, and supportive of their peers.

Expert Guidance: Experienced counsellors and psychologists led the sessions, ensuring the students received professional guidance tailored to their specific needs.

Holistic Development: By addressing the psychosocial aspect, the program aimed to contribute to the holistic development of the students, fostering an environment conducive to learning and personal growth.

We believe that children are best equipped with such rare skills whilst still in school. Yet such opportunities rarely come by given the exam-oriented kind of learning that they are subjected to. It’s our hope that this exercise will open wider doors for these young minds in being citizens of fundamental change wherever the future will take them.
