BUILD Training Workshop: Transforming Vision into Action
By Edward Musungu

The Jesuit Development Office (JDO) recently concluded the B U I L D (Begin, Understand, Implement, Learn, Develop) Training Workshop, a week-long program held at The Radix Hotel in Karen. Bringing together 53 participants from diverse organizations nationally and internationally, the workshop provided a comprehensive platform for learning, collaboration, and capacity building in project management.

Throughout the five days, participants engaged in key topics including Project Cycle Management, Logical Framework, Financial Accountability, Donor Engagement and Innovative Approaches to Fundraising. Sessions also focused on Practical applications of Artificial Intelligence in resource mobilization, Organizational Policy Implementation and Effective Communication Strategies. Experts from various fields offered their insights, with highlights from Fr. John Baptist Lubega, AJ. who shared an inspiring genesis of The Radix Hotel as a self-sustaining venture.

Interactive activities, including group assignments on developing Logical Frameworks and Event Management in Fundraising, deepened participants’ understanding of project execution. Additionally, Field visits to Jesuit local fundraising initiatives, such as Mwangaza Jesuit Spirituality Centre, St. Joseph Development Programmes and Jesuit Development Office in Kangemi, showcased successful ventures in farming, community development and organizational setups.

Thank you to everyone who made this journey possible. As the Jesuit Saint Edmund Campion once rightly put it, “The expense is reckoned, the enterprise is begun; it is of God; it cannot be withstood.” JDO is proud to have sparked this transformative journey and looks forward to hosting similar impactful events in the near future.
