AOR Provincial Visits Chennai
By Elias Vono, SJ
Greetings of Peace from Berchman’s Illam Community.
As the month begun, Chennai city begun to embrace Monsoon season. This led to a change in the atmosphere of the city and reduction in the amount of heat waves that the city was experiencing for the past few months. The rain thus became a source of inspiration and motivation for the scholastics residing in Berchman’s Illam community creating a synergy between nature’s blessings and the community’s commitment to academic excellence which is evident in their focused preparation for the ongoing semester exams.
On the 7 of this month, Fr. Kizito the Provincial of AOR landed safely in Chennai airport India. His Historic landing marked his first visit ever to India which the scholastics and the community were waiting for fervently for the past three years. And yeah what to say to put it as one of the elderly fathers said “the Africans provincial is here”
In his Visit he also met the delegate of formation Fr. Peter OT who is undergoing his treatment. It was kind of a cool moment to see the scholastics formation team together.
Later that day, both Frs. Kizito and Peter had a brief meeting with the socius of Chennai province who represented his Provincial in Absentia.
In view of the upcoming Hekima University Plan, Fr. Kizito met the Director of Loyola Institute of Business Administration commonly known as LIBA.
LIBA is a Jesuit Business school belonging to Chennai province located inside the promises of Loyola College. Through the years the institute has earned a prestige name for itself ranking first Business Institute in Tamil Nadu State and 18th in India. The two had a series of discussion which was followed by an orientation in the institute (LIBA).
