New home, new beginning
By Linus Tigiti,SJ

The anticipation of moving into a new house is a journey filled with a myriad of emotions – excitement, nervousness, and hope. It is a time when dreams of creating new memories, exploring uncharted territories, and embracing fresh beginnings take center stage. In the midst of this emotional rollercoaster, the Jesuits are on the brink of transitioning into their new abode. With just a few final tasks remaining before the property handover, we are at the cusp of a significant milestone.

However, our current focus lies on the installation of the wooden doors, a crucial element that adds the finishing touch to our new residence. Regrettably, this process has faced delays due to heavy rainfall in Addis Ababa, where the doors were being manufactured. Furthermore, the road leading to the site poses a challenge as it is still undergoing construction, hindering smooth access to our new home.

Progress of the construction of the road

For almost four years, the bridge connecting the Ariyo (Jesuit property) to the main road has been dormant since its initial construction. Recently, with the completion of the road, the bridge saw its first use. While the road is now navigable, it becomes impassable during rainfall due to the government’s delay in laying down the necessary materials. There is optimism that without rain interruptions, the bridge will be fully constructed, facilitating the seamless transportation of construction materials, particularly for the school’s construction.
