From 2024 to 2025: Loyola Hub of Hospitality
By Fr. Odomaro Mubangizi, SJ
The year 2024 brought an unprecedented number of diverse visitors from near and far, and the year 2025 started on a high note of international visitors at Loyola. 2025 being a Jubilee Year, it is just fitting that it starts with dramatic events.
Who are these visitors? December 21st 2024 witnessed the arrival of Fr. Fratern Masawe and Fr. Joseph Christie, from the Jesuit Curia in Rome, accompanied by Fr. Jerome Manyahi. They had come to visit the Proposed Hekima University and Molo, where PHU will be set up. Our companions in Molo hosted the team. PHU Executive also briefed the team about the progress made by PHU.
The other team of guests were from Loyola Marymount, who had come for an immersion experience with PHU. They arrived at Loyola on 3rd January, 2025, then after one day, headed to Molo where they had some training and cultural immersion. Kway helped with logistics while Mapunda and Mokua helped with some trainings.
The third group of visitors were a family from Germany, parents and a sister of Benedict Christ, who had done some volunteer work in Kangemi, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish. The family of Benedict stayed at Loyola during the first two weeks of January, 2025. They were very happy to be at Loyola and visit several places in Nairobi. They later left for Tanzania to visit Arusha, Zanzibar and other parts of Tanzania.
Loyola House will take advantage of the Holy Year 2025 to intensify its spirit of hospitality, and host many pilgrims during this Holy Year of special graces. The Loyola Palm Gardens, small but elegant Loyola Chapel, the newly expanded Menelik Medical Centre, easy access to Nairobi City Centre, and several leisure spots with walking distance like Junction Mall, Prestige Plaza, Uhuru Park, Green House, are some of the most coveted attractions that make Loyola one of the best destinations for those looking for a place to relax in the Jubilee Year.
Menelik Twin Towers is also nearing full occupancy. Plans are underway to make the guest rooms comfortable and convenient for visitors who wish to explore Loyola House and its surroundings. LAP wishes all its valued audience a grace-filled and relaxing Holy Year.
