Amplifying the Synod on Synodality's Mission
By Ms. Teresia Muia

In a collaborative effort to support the church’s mission of fostering an inclusive and participatory approach to governance, a new partnership between Loyola Centre for Media and Communication (LCMC) and The Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) will boost the Synod on Synodality’s mission through digital campaigns and webinars.

Loyola center for media and communications (LCMC) and The Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA)members during a meeting on how to amplify the process of the synod on synodality.

The Synod on Synodality seeks to engage the entire Catholic community in reflecting on and practicing synodality, a process that involves deeper listening and more inclusive participation in church decision-making. In this spirit, LCMC has taken on the task of amplifying the synod’s message through various online platforms.

As part of their initiative, LCMC has focused on creating and disseminating content around
synodality by engaging with key religious figures. About a month ago, the LCMC team interviewed Most Rev. Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen, the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya.

This interview, along with other synod-related content, is being shared on LCMC’s social media channels to spread awareness and encourage engagement.

LCMC’s efforts extend beyond social media. They aim to document key success stories on synodality and have launched a comprehensive social media campaign, which is already underway. Additionally, LCMC and AMECEA have organized a series of webinars to further
promote this mission. Three webinars have already taken place, featuring participation from various Catholic bishops. The fourth webinar is scheduled for July 11, 2024, and will focus on the theme “The Role of Lay Associations in the Synodal Church”

Through these initiatives, LCMC and AMECEA are working diligently to support the Synod on Synodality, ensuring that the principles of listening, participation, and co-responsibility are highlighted and practiced within the Catholic Church.
