In response to the growing political crisis and unrest in the country, the Loyola Centre for Media and Communications has teamed up with other Catholic media houses in Nairobi to lead a campaign of hope and peace. At an important meeting held today, July 3rd, 2024, at Radio Waumini-Along Thika road, representatives from various Catholic media outlets gathered to plan how to use social media as the main platform to share these important messages from the Church in Kenya.

During the meeting, participants stressed the urgent need for Catholic media to help uplift the nation during these tough times. Everyone agreed that in the midst of the chaos and protests, the church affiliated media houses must be a source of hope for the people.

Speakers at the event emphasized the critical nature of their mission, recognizing that their efforts might attract significant online criticism. Nonetheless, the representatives affirmed their commitment to this noble cause, agreeing that the potential impact far outweighs the challenges.

“This is a challenging time for our nation, and as Church-affiliated media houses, it is our duty to deliver messages of hope and peace,” one representative stated. “We must brace ourselves for the difficult road ahead. It won’t be easy, but we cannot stand by and do nothing.”

With solidarity and a shared vision, these Catholic media houses are set to harness the power of social media to unite and heal a divided nation, spreading messages of hope and peace to all corners of Kenya.
