Ignatian Spirituality of Daily Reflection Could Be the Magic to Elevate Organizational Growth
By Ms. Teresia Muia
In a world often driven by the mantra ‘every man for himself and God for us all,’ a transformative shift emerges, guided by the wisdom of Ignatian spirituality. During a mid-annual meeting of the Loyola Centre for Media and Communications (LCMC) staff, Rev. Fr. Dr. Stephen Nzioki, SJ, a Jesuit priest, championed a new paradigm where individuals embrace service to others as a cornerstone of their daily lives.
In his inspiring session at the Elysian Resort in Runda-Nairobi, Fr. Nzyoki illuminated how the principles of Saint Ignatius of Loyola can be incorporated into everyday professional practices.
Drawing from Saint Ignatius’s vision of a truly effective life, the Jesuit priest highlighted the importance of discernment in decision-making, the value of generous service, and the practice of a reflective daily examination of conscience. This daily reflection allows individuals to assess their actions, recognize what succeeded, understand what fell short, and prepare for continuous improvement.
Fr. Nzioki explained that while the daily examination was initially a spiritual exercise within the Jesuit community, its principles can significantly enhance professional performance and career development. According to him, this practice fosters creativity and personal growth, aligning with the Jesuit commitment to constant self-improvement and service to others.
By the end of the session, the LCMC staff were inspired by the potential of incorporating Ignatian spirituality into their work. Eager to embrace the spirit of selfless service and continuous personal development, they left with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm for contributing to the greater good.
