The Catholic Church in Kenya and LCMC Champion Media Integrity for a Just Nation
As many celebrate love this Valentine’s Day February 14, 2025, The Catholic Church in Kenya and the Loyola Centre for Media and Communication (LCMC) have demonstrated their commitment to the nation in a profound way. Hosting a two-day conference on The Kenya We Desire from February 11–12, 2025, the gathering brought together Catholic justice and peace representatives, along with social communication experts from dioceses across Kenya.
The forum focused on the role of Catholic media networks and communication departments in shaping a just and accountable society through responsible information dissemination.
Gracing the occasion was Rt. Rev. Wallace Ng’ang’a, Auxiliary Bishop of the Nairobi Archdiocese, who emphasized the need for Catholic media to be the voice that ensures bishops’ press statements reach the grassroots. He urged civil and faith-based organizations to work together in strengthening integrity and accountability in Kenya.
“Our Catholic radios and media institutions should serve as a bridge between Catholic social teaching and the public,” Bishop Wallace stated.

Expressing concern over the rise of misinformation, Bishop Wallace called on Catholic media houses to uphold accuracy and truth, noting that spreading factual information is a sign of integrity and love for society.
Dr. Elias Mokua, SJ, Executive Director of LCMC, reminded participants of the need to embrace patriotism and unity.
“As Kenyans, and especially as the Catholic Church, we have a shared responsibility to promote peace and justice,” Dr. Mokua affirmed.

The conference reinforced the Catholic Church’s commitment to ethical journalism and media integrity in building The Kenya We Desire.
