Four Jesuit Deacons ordained into Priesthood, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Kangemi
As the scriptures say, “A city built on a hill cannot be hidden.” This was certainly the case with the joyous priestly ordination that took place on July 13th, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Parish in Kangemi.
Four Jesuit deacons—Silas Kemboi, SJ, Paschal Angaluki, SJ, Kang’ethe Robert, SJ, and Francis Kyalo, SJ—were ordained as priests. The beginning of a new chapter in their vocation journey is the fruit of their persistence in prayer and discernment, as Jesuit formation is known for being lengthy and rigorous.
The event was a true celebration of faith, marked by the remarkable turnout of fellow Jesuit companions, Christians, family members, and collaborators. It was a momentous occasion of joy and reflection for the newly ordained priests as they recognized the continuous love and support provided by the community throughout their formation.
As they embarked on their new mission and responsibilities, it brought to mind the writing of St. Ignatius of Loyola: “Love ought to show itself more in deeds than in words.”
Ordination of Seven Jesuit Deacons into Priesthood
An extraordinary moment of grace and commitment as we witnessed the ordination of seven remarkable individuals into the sacred priesthood. On Sunday July 02, 2023, we gathered to celebrate and honor the culmination of years of discernment, formation and unwavering dedication to serving God and His people. The seven Jesuit and one Missionary of Africa Priests have embarked on a transformative journey, embracing the call to serve as shepherds of faith, compassion and love. Through their ordination, they are entrusted with the sacred duty of guiding souls, spreading the teachings of Christ, and embodying the values of their respective Congregations. As we witnessed this profound ceremony, we are reminded of the immense responsibility that comes with the priesthood. These newly ordained priests have been chosen to carry onthe legacy of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, embracing his vision of being “contemplatives in
action” and striving for the greater glory of God in all they do.
