The Province is blessed with several apostolic communities composed of Jesuits of diverse cultural backgrounds, ages and nationalities. As a province “it is important to highlight the extraordinary potential we possess as an international and multicultural body.

Embody compassion for Christ’s poor

Jesuits “are a community in solidarity with the [poor] because of Christ‘s preferential love for the [poor]” (GC34, d. 2, no. 9). People beyond geographical definitions await us, especially those who are poor and displaced, those who are profoundly lonely, those who ignore God‘s existence and those who use God as an instrument for political purposes.

Jesuits are constantly driven to discover, redefine, and reach out for the magis. For us, frontiers and boundaries are not obstacles or ends, but 4. Vision, mission and Core Values new challenges to be faced, new opportunities to be welcomed. Indeed, ours is a holy boldness, a certain apostolic aggressiveness, typical of our way of proceeding (GC34, d. 26, no. 27).

A discerning apostolic body

Jesuits are a community of discernment. The mission on which Jesuits are sent, whether corporately or individually, do not exempt us from the need of discerning together in what manner and by what means such missions are to be accomplished” (GC32, d. 2, no. 19).
