It is often said that we are made of memories, and some of the best are made around a shared table. Here at the Paul Miki Jesuit Community in Molo, Kenya, we have been creating new memories with friends, relatives, and companions who have joined us at our table.
This Wednesday, Abba Patrick Ng’ang’a who is here on a retreat, joined Abba Mapunda and I in the absence of Abba Kang’ethe who was away giving retreat at the Lord’s table. Sitting around the Lord’s table brought back old good memories we shared. The three of us did our regency at Ocer Campion in Gulu, Uganda. Back then, the Jesuit community at Ocer did not yet have a chapel, so each morning, we gathered at the living room table to celebrate the Eucharist—just as we were doing at Paul Miki-Molo.
Reflecting on Ocer’s journey since then fills me with hope. From its humble beginnings, Ocer has grown into a vibrant campus and community, complete with a beautiful chapel. I am inspired to dream of the day when Molo, too, will flourish in similar ways.
Please keep us in your prayers as we strive toward this vision.
