Semper Avanti, Semper in Deo - Spring Semester Begins

By: John Francis Mukulu, SJ

Always Forward, always in God, the Spring Season begins. And along with it a busy schedule of studies and new opportunities for service in the Lord. We’re also thankful to God for the chance to revisit Christianity roots here in Japan, and various forms of service we embarked on during the holidays. This includes visiting Sites of Hidden Christians in Nagasaki, and various historical churches and sites.

This week, I also had the privilege of attending a conference on AI and Society at Arrupe Jesuit University. It was a valuable opportunity to engage in machine learning discourse and ethics. It was also an opportune moment to promote missionaries to the Jesuit missions in Japan. As our Lord reminds us: “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Matthew 9:37). May the Lord send laborers in his vineyard.

The Semester is also pacing forward with new Engineering studies to tackle and sciences to master. As the semester progresses, we’re trying to balance between our missionary work and our call to spread the good news of the Kingdom in all that we do. As Saint Ignatius invites us to “Go forth and set the world on fire.”

May this continue to be our inspiration and guidance as we continue to grow in our studies, in our mission, and in our efforts to answer the call of God in our lives. In Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, Amen.
