St. Joseph the Worker Parish, was established in 1985, in Kangemi slums, Nairobi. The Parish was founded with the aim of supporting the spiritual and social needs of the local community. It currently serves 20,000 Catholics in the area, with 31 Small Christian Communities. Through a number of social apostolates, the parish serves a more inclusive population beyond Catholics. These include Christ the King outstation (CTK), St. Joseph Nursery and Primary School, St. Joseph Technical Secondary School, St. Joseph Health Centre, St. Joseph the Worker Pastoral Centre, St. Joseph Upendo Orphaned and Vulnerable Children Education Programme, St. Joseph’s Dolly Craft Women’s Sewing Project, and St. Joseph Uzima Integrated Gender HIV/AIDS (IGH) Programme.
