SPCHS Houses Competition – Part II
By Joyce Nicholaus Nagunwa (FV PMC)
On February 21st, St. Peter Claver held its grand finale of the annual Houses Competition. Each house showcased its talents, competing in typing, traditional dance, modern dance, and a spectacular fashion showcase. The event, judged by external adjudicators, kicked off at 2:00 p.m. after the regular school schedule.
Fashion Showcase
Mikumi dazzled the crowd with stunning designs by Pokoloko and Luther, earning 29 points thanks to standout models like Rosemary, Esther Chao, and Najim. Nile, however, stole the show with fashion genius Ndamcho, capturing the judges’ hearts and securing first place. Victoria displayed exceptional teamwork under the leadership of Emmanuel Zacharia and Mazula, finishing third. Africa gave their best with designers like Caroline, ending up in fourth place, while Kilimanjaro, though not as competitive, put forth a commendable effort.

Traditional and Modern Dance
Africa made a grand entrance in traditional dance, led by Nashpai, Rebecca, and Baraka, impressing the audience. Their modern dance team, spearheaded by Kingu, brought infectious energy. Kilimanjaro’s traditional dance, guided by Noreen Chenye and Matilda, was both thrilling and dramatic. Their modern dance, inspired by Squid Game, captivated everyone with precision and creativity, earning them first place.

Nile delivered jaw-dropping moments in traditional dance, including a daring chicken-slaughtering act by the ever-spirited Dativa. Their modern dance featured stylish uniforms that had every girl envious, with Roberto and Dativa leading an electric performance. Mikumi’s dancers shone in both categories—Jackie’s leadership in traditional dance was outstanding, while the modern dancers’ Fally Ipupa-inspired moves impressed, though minor infractions cost them some points.

Victoria continued their surprises, blending tradition and shock factor—one dancer even drank fresh chicken blood! Their involvement of staff members, including cooks, added to their charm. However, a modern dance costume mishap nearly cost them points, though luck was on their side. Despite this, Kilimanjaro remained the modern dance champion.

Congratulations to all houses, especially Kilimanjaro, for their resilience! We now await the 2026 showdown to see who will claim the crown.
Mbuzi Day – The Grand Feast
To celebrate, the school hosted ‘Mbuzi Day’—a vibrant picnic where houses cooked and feasted. Goat allocations depended on competition rankings: Mikumi (6), Africa (5), Nile (4), Victoria (3), and Kilimanjaro (2). The entire school transformed into a lively cookout, filled with mouthwatering aromas, booming music, and laughter.
The Form One boys danced like they had no bones, while girls ululated in excitement as they tasted the first soup. Staff members even bargained for bigger cooking pots! Beyond the festivities, this was a day of bonding, reinforcing the school’s motto: To Learn, To Serve, and for the Greater Glory of God.
Long live the spirit of the Houses!
