Relishing the Memories

Some were wondering why it was taking place years after priestly ordination. Others expected the Litany of the Saints to be sung. Some were puzzled when it did not happen immediately after the homily, while others waited to hear the presider say, “I accept these vows on behalf of the Superior General.”
That was the atmosphere at Ukarimu Chapel, where family, relatives, friends, collaborators, and neighbours gathered to celebrate and witness our companion, Fr. Christopher (Abba Chris) Mapunda, SJ, profess his Final Vows in the Society of Jesus. The celebration made this year’s Feast of St. Ignatius even more special.
We are deeply grateful to our Jesuit companions, the Friends of Paul Miki, family members, relatives, and all who travelled from far and wide to grace the occasion. A special word of thanks goes to the religious communities around Baraka Farm—our “Mini Vatican”—for their extraordinary generosity. They not only joined us in the celebration but also helped lead the liturgy, provided the venue, and offered accommodation to our guests.
It is true: alone we may rejoice, but together we celebrate.
Now we turn our attention to the upcoming PHU Marathon. Molo is the place to be!
