From AOR to the Far East: The Provincial’s Visits

This August 3–6, 2026, we had the blessing of receiving Rt. Rev. Fr. Kizito Kiyimba SJ in his visit to Japan. The companions expressed their appreciation for his visit from the SJ House community to Loyola House and Kibe Jeusuit Curia. It is not often that the Far East gets to share the moments of fraternity, conversation, and companionship with a major superior from the other East of Africa.
His arrival seemed to carry a bundle of blessings. His arrival marked the first relief from days of record-breaking summer heat in Tokyo. The visit also coincided with Sophia University’s Open Campus, when prospective students and their parents get a chance to encounter the university’s academic life and research. He graced us with his visit to the Gonsalves Laboratory, where our research and innovations happen. We thank the Lord for his visit and uplifting presence during his stay.
After his days in Tokyo, Fr. Kizito departed for Manila to accompany the one and only AOR Jesuit theologian in the Far East Jesuit Missions. His visit reminded us of the role of Jesuit companionship across provinces, cultures, and continents. Wherever mission sends us, we remain companions in Christ at the service of others. As St. Paul reminds us, “We are God’s fellow workers” (1 Cor 3:9).
We thank God for Fr. Kizito’s visit and continue to pray for him in his present and future missions. Amen.
