Radio Kwizera Bids Farewell to Two Jesuits
By Marco Pastory, Journalist
A farewell Mass was held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Radio Kwizera in Ngara, Kagera–Tanzania, to bid goodbye to two young Jesuits, Vincent Opiyo, SJ and David Kasongo, SJ, as they prepare to begin their new missions.
The emotional celebration led by the director, Fr. Siriack Killenga, SJ, brought together priests from neighbouring parishes (Ntungamo, Buhororo and Ngara-Mjini) where the two Jesuits had been serving during their apostolate on Sundays, alongside members of nearby religious communities of Sisters and friends of Radio Kwizera.
During the event, speakers expressed gratitude for the dedication, commitment, and spiritual support shown by Vincent Opiyo and David Kasongo throughout their time in the community.
They noted that the contribution of the two regents had left a lasting mark at Radio Kwizera, with their service, teamwork, and apostolic commitment becoming a legacy that would continue to inspire those remaining in the mission.
The congregation also prayed for their safety, strength, and success in their upcoming missions in the Society of Jesus.
In their farewell remarks, the two Jesuits thanked the Radio Kwizera family and the Christian community for the love, friendship, and cooperation they received during their stay, while wishing everyone continued peace and God’s blessings.
