Report on the Provincial Visit and Community Engagement

By Timothy Kioko, SJ

Je vous salue et donnez-vous les salutations de Pâques

The community received a visit from the Provincial, coinciding with the Easter weekend. The visit offered an opportunity for reflection, strategic planning, and the fatherly care, especially in his capacity as the Major Superior within the province.

He arrived on Saturday morning, 04th April and was hosted at the Curate of the ACE Province in Gombe, Kinshasa, DRC. He shared a moment with the Local Major Superior and the Easter Vigil celebrations. His presence at Saint Pierre Canisius was manifested on the morning of 5th April, Easter Sunday, where He co-celebrated Easter Mass, and his presence was a joy celebrated by all members.

During the day, he received a formal community reception from Fr Modesto, the Rector, and the minister, Fr Tobias. He commenced fraternal manifestations with the brothers the same evening and ended the activity the following day.

Just after the Memoriare, the AoR community had a special banquet which ended in the evening with him being escorted to the airport by the Scholastics Brian Mugambi and Tracisio Muhoro.

Strategic Discussions and Provincial Vision

During the sessions, the Provincial engaged with the community regarding the current state of the mission in Kimwenza and the Status of the Province.

Key areas included:

  • Mission Goals: A review of the established objectives, including the status of the Kimwenza mission, the expectations and the track achieved while celebrating the achievements and empowering the areas of growth.
  • Province Current Status: Updates on ongoing development projects and the broader strategic vision for the province.

The Provincial’s Take

He expressed gratitude and joy towards the community, and his primary exhortations included:

  • Unity and Communication: The importance of maintaining closeness with one another.
  • Commitment: A call to remain focused and integrate the core values of formation.
  • Continuity: He encouraged us to carry it forward into our vocation.

The visit was characterised by a joyous and open atmosphere. It was a success, or better said, ÇA VA ALLER. The provincial urged us to be with the entire province in unity of prayers.

Que le Seigneur vous bénisse et vous garde dans toutes les choses que vous faites.
