Construction of the Community House, installation of the transformer and road repair

By Linus Tigiti, SJ

After a collaborative effort with the contractor, one section of the house has been completed, resembling a marathon-like endeavor. This particular section is not connected to the first-floor slab of the main house, indicating that the contractor is now prepared to proceed with the roofing and partitioning tasks. In the meantime, the main house columns have completed a curing period, the contractor is currently in the process of preparing the first-floor slab.

Preparations for the installation of the transformer (50KW)

After the successful completion of the electric pole installations, the next step involves positioning the transformer. With time, power will be available at the site in a few days to come, greatly facilitating the construction work. This also confirms that the neighboring areas will not have access to the benefits of the transformer installed specifically for the Ariyo Catholic Learning Institute (Jesuits Institute), as per the government’s decision.

Repairing of the road after heavy rain in Bonga

After heavy rain for almost a month, the road was left in bad condition, making it difficult for Sino Trucks to transport construction materials to the site. The Jesuits and the contractor were surprised by the weather conditions, and for the first time, prayers were offered to stop the rain so that construction could proceed. Finally, the rain stopped, and all efforts were dedicated to filling the damaged part of the road.

The government of Bonga supported the project by facilitating the selected materials, and the rest of the work, such as supervision, was done by the engineers from the contractor’s side and the Jesuits. The repair of the difficult part of the road was a challenging task, but with the collaboration of all parties involved, it was completed.
