Harmonizing Horizons: PHU's Collaborative Expedition

On a bright Wednesday morning, the 13th of March 2024, a delegation comprising Reverend Father Martin Waweru, Headmaster of Loyola High School – Dar es Salaam, SJ, Eddie Cullen, Founder and CEO at Crescite, and Father Dr. Odomaro Mubangizi, SJ, the proposed Hekima University (PHU) Deputy Director and Director of Academic Affairs embarked on a journey of collaboration and possibility. Their destination: the esteemed Michael Battle, the US Ambassador to Tanzania.
Amidst the grandeur of the embassy, ideas flowed between the delegation and Ambassador Battle was in the company of Ms. Laura Shayo, coordinator English Language Program and the public Affairs section amongst others. They discussed the prospects of PHU; they explored avenues to foster relationships in the region and sought potential opportunities for prosperous innovation through collaboration. At the heart of their discussions was a shared dedication to advancing women’s education in STEM fields, recognizing it as a catalyst for societal progress.
From promoting English language proficiency through training and exchange programs to exploring innovative research initiatives, possibilities were vast. A critical aspect discussed was the integration of a blended learning approach at PHU. Recognizing the importance of adapting to the evolving educational landscape, PHU will embrace the fusion of virtual and physical classrooms. This approach aimed to provide students with a dynamic learning experience, transcending geographical barriers while nurturing a sense of community.
Meanwhile, back at PHU, the Directorate team led by Executive Director, Dr. Elias Mokua, SJ, convened a stakeholder meeting with Eddie Cullen at Loyola House. Amidst the calm surroundings, they delved into discussions on potential areas of collaboration. The partnership forged between PHU and the US Embassy in Tanzania served as a testament to the power of cooperation in fostering academic excellence and societal advancement. And at the heart of it all stood Mr. Eddie Cullen, the man who dared to dream of a world where education knew no bounds.
