Radio Kwizera Holds a Stakeholders' Meeting in Kasulu
Dear friends, greetings from Nagar! I hope that you are all doing well in your various apostolic endeavors.
On October 9, 2023, JRS-Radio Kwizera held a stakeholders’ meeting in Kasulu Town to create awareness of the radio’s mission, its foundation, its rootedness in the global Jesuit networks, and the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS). This was an ample opportunity to present to the stakeholders the history of the founding of the radio, its growth over the years, its spread into other districts, coverage, and listenership.
Fr. Angelo Munduni, SJ was the first presenter. He warmly welcomed the participants and thanked them for honoring the invitation of Radio Kwizera. He began his presentation by displaying photos of St. Ignatius of Loyola, Pedro Arrupe (the founder of JRS), and Pope Francis, to emphasize that Radio Kwizera is a Catholic Radio Station and was started by the Jesuits through JRS. His presentation was also geared towards sharing, exchanging knowledge, and collaboration.
In attendance were representatives of various organizations, businesses, and government officials from Kasulu District, Kigoma, Kibondo, as well as Ngara. The meeting was graced by the Kasulu District Commissioner, Mheshimiwa Isaac Mwakisu and many representatives from Nongovernmental Organizations such as Save the Children, International Rescue Committee (IRC), Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), United Nations High Commissions for Refugee (UNHCR), Right to Play (RTP), Plan International, Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Norwegian Refugee Council, and other government officials representing Kasulu District.
During the question-and-answer session, participants took the floor to praise, question, and challenge RK. Almost all of them disclosed interest in collaborating with Radio in various ways, including but not limited to advancing community sensitization on public hygiene, water and sanitation, education, and issues about children and gender equality.
At the end, the District Commissioner (DC) gave a brief spirit-lifting speech. His speech had three components: First, he expressed gratitude for the great work Radio Kwizera is doing in his district and beyond, and expressed his joy to have met the director of Radio Kwizera, Fr. Angelo Munduni, SJ for the first time. Second, he opened the door for collaboration, stating that RK is always welcome to Kasulu and executives of the radio should not hesitate to visit his office should they need help. He also assured them of security in the district. Finally, he remarked that almost all the radio programs presented were geared toward children, youths, women, and so on, neglecting the elderly members of the community. He encouraged RK to design programs that will address issues facing the elderly.
After the meeting, we departed for Ngara to join the rest of the RK staff and the community.
We thank the Lord for all the graces He continues to bestow on us as we labor in His vineyard.
Blessings!
