A Season of Blessings

Greetings from Molo, the land of endless possibilities!
Although the rains have not been predictable, we have many reasons to count our blessings.
Early this month, we were joined by Sch. Sylvester Sulwe, SJ, who is studying philosophy at Arrupe Jesuit University in Zimbabwe. He is spending part of his holiday with us and is slowly but surely transforming into a seasoned farmer!
Secondly, the construction of the Jesuit community has resumed. The project had stalled mainly because we needed to engage a new contractor. We are grateful that the new contractor has proven to be highly committed. In just two weeks, he has cleared the site, delivered construction materials, and already begun building. We are hopeful that by the end of this year—or early next year—we shall have moved up to “The Jes Hill,” God’s footstool, a place where friends meet.
This year’s 31st of July will be a double celebration for us. Besides celebrating the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, we will also be thanking God for the gift of Abba Mapunda, SJ, who will profess his Final Vows in the Society of Jesus. If you have never been to Molo, this is a wonderful and grace-filled reason to visit.
The celebrations will continue the following day, 1st August, as we celebrate the achievements of the second cohort of students who have successfully completed six months of training in our Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (IEP). The IEP has become a seed of hope that continues to inspire us and strengthen our conviction that the dream of establishing a university here is both valid and attainable. Through the program, we continue to test our capacities, build and refine our systems, and, most importantly, cultivate new friendships and partnerships with collaborators who are helping us shape this dream.
