Easter Celebration at AJUC

By Wisdom Ukelo, SJ

On Sunday, 5th April 2026, the Arrupe Jesuit University Community joyfully celebrated Easter Sunday, marking the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The celebration was vibrant and filled with a deep sense of hope and renewal among all who attended. The main celebrant for the Easter Sunday Mass was Fr. Justin Manjakamanana, a PhD student and formator at AJUC.

The Easter celebration was preceded by a lively and prayerful Easter Vigil Mass held on the evening of Saturday, 4th April 2026. The Vigil Mass was presided over by Fr. Collins Obidiagha, SJ, a lecturer in ICT and formator at AJUC. This significant liturgical event brought together Jesuit companions, students, staff, and members of the surrounding community.

Rich in symbolism and tradition, the vigil created a sacred atmosphere as participants journeyed from darkness into light, celebrating Christ’s victory over death. It set a profound tone for the Easter Sunday celebrations that followed.

Members of the community expressed sincere gratitude for the opportunity to gather and celebrate together. The presence of the faithful from the surrounding neighbourhood further strengthened the sense of communion and shared belief. It served as a powerful reminder that Easter is not merely an event, but a living reality that continues to inspire transformation and hope.

As the celebrations concluded, the message of Easter remained clear and profound: Christ is risen, and with Him comes new life. The AJUC community was encouraged to carry this message into their daily lives, becoming witnesses of hope, peace, and love in the world.

May the peace of the Risen Christ fill our hearts, and may His Resurrection continue to guide us in all that we do.
