Triduum and Palm Sunday Celebration at AJUC
By Wisdom Ukelo, SJ
On 27th March, the Arrupe Jesuit University Community began the Triduum in preparation for the celebration of Easter Sunday. The Triduum was directed by Fr. Thomas Oguagua, SJ, formator and lecturer at AJU, under the central theme: “Communing with Jesus Christ on the Cross in Mystical Oneness.”
The Triduum was spiritually fruitful, centering on two of the words of Jesus on the Cross: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34) and “Father, into your hands, I commend my spirit” (Luke 23:46). The director emphasized these reflections, encouraging companions to encounter Christ’s mercy through forgiveness and to extend that same forgiveness to others, while also embracing total surrender and trust in God the Father. Companions further deepened this experience through sharing in their sub-communities, reflecting on the fruits of their prayer.
The Triduum culminated on Palm Sunday, 29th March, where the Jesuit Companions renewed their vows. The Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Chioma Nwosu, SJ, Rector of AJUC, and concelebrated by Fr. Thomas Oguagua, SJ, Fr. Tobias Dindi, SJ, and Fr. Itua Egbor, SJ.
May we deepen our union with Christ in His Passion as we journey toward the joy of Easter.
