By Maureen Obare
On the evening of Saturday, 2nd December 2023, the proposed Hekima University (pHU) Directorate hosted a delightful gathering welcoming the esteemed “Friends of proposed Hekima University” and the Public Relations Committee team for an engaging evening of discussions. The air buzzed with excitement as discussions unfolded, delving into various aspects of pHU’s initiatives and upcoming projects.
Amidst the lively conversations, the energy took a purposeful turn with the formation of a dedicated Steering Committee. A dynamic group entrusted with spearheading plans for the upcoming year’s fundraising in 2024. The main task of this committee is to fundraise for the initial building that will house pHU’s Administration in Molo. With a mix of experienced individuals and fresh perspectives, this committee promised to bring innovation and dedication to the forefront of pHU’s goals. As the meeting concluded, the participants left with a sense of anticipation and enthusiasm for the promising ventures that lay ahead.
Both Fr. Provincial Kizito Kiyimba, SJ and pHU Executive Director Dr. Elias Mokua, SJ expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the friends gathered, extending sincere thanks for their continuous support. In their remarks, they emphasized the importance of fostering a spirit of unwavering support for the Jesuits and appealed to the attendees to contribute actively towards fundraising efforts. Encouraging a sense of solidarity, they underscored the significant impact that collective support can have in advancing the mission and initiatives of the proposed Hekima University.
Later in the evening, an atmosphere of solidarity and collaboration enveloped the group as they sat down to a sumptuous dinner, where the clanking of glasses echoed the bonds formed during the discussions.
